The New Palestine Junior High Robotics Team is a Vex IQ sponsored program. Half of our available teams are geared specifically for female students. Check out our STEM robotics program on the largest STEM resource The Connectory website. Students in grades 7-8 will begin to expand their interest in engineering and STEM skills. Through the work with the robotics team, our students will be exposed to basic engineering principles and will align with the Indiana state science and engineering process standards. Students will work with a trained coach to design a robot to meet the real-world challenge and compete in the VEX IQ tournaments.
Students will also work with the New Palestine High School VEX Robotics Team. High School students will collaborate with our robotics program to teach and mentor students so that a genuine interest will be developed. Our robotics teams will also present and encourage elementary students from our local Hancock County schools to get involved in robotics and coding.
Our school sponsors a maximum of 6 teams. Since 2015 we have had teams qualify each year for the Indiana State Championship. We were 2nd in the Teamwork Challenge for State 2017-2018 season. We were 3rd in the State for Teamwork Challenge in 2018-2019. To learn more about VEX robotics and this year’s competition game check out the VEX IQ website
